Shadow work — Jungian psychological framework for reclaiming blocked power

There is a part of you that has never been given permission to exist.

You've felt her absence your whole life.

In the moments when you held back what you really wanted to say. When you swallowed the anger, the desire, the ambition, because it didn't seem safe, or appropriate, or like you.

When you watched someone else take up exactly the space you secretly wanted to occupy — and felt a punch to your gut. You named it insecurity, jealousy, maybe even envy.

But it wasn't. It was your unclaimed power speaking.

The part of you that went underground so you could become the woman the world needed you to be.

And it has been waiting... patiently, persistently, sometimes loudly, to come home.

What happens when you stop giving your power away.

— Claire, Coach, 7 years in practice

Shadow work is not about facing your darkness.

It is about retrieving your gold.

Most people think the shadow is everything wrong with them. The bad thoughts, the shameful impulses, the parts they'd rather not admit to.

Jung understood something different.

The shadow is everything that didn't fit the version of yourself you were building. Your anger. Your authority. Your wildness. Your hunger. The qualities that were called too much and that you, slowly, quietly, learned to leave at the door.

Shadow work is the process of retrieving them. Not as a concept. As an actual, felt, embodied reclamation.

When you do it properly, not through journaling prompts, but through genuine depth work, you don't just get insight. You get your power back.
